Balcrank was excited to host our top purchasing distributors to a fun-filled trip to Spain this past month and fun was had by all. Spain has such a rich history that it was a difficult decision as to what to include! Along the way the group had meals in some outstanding restaurants, to include a Michelin rated restaurant, and a historical restaurant in Segovia at which a full pig was presented along with a very interesting ceremony prior to carving and serving the pig. Also, in true Spain fashion great wine and local beer were served with every meal.
During the week we visited Madrid, which included a brief tour of the city. The group then toured the Marques de Riscal Winery in the Roja region and experienced a wine-tasting event (this was a favorite of the group). The tour then continued with a visit and tour of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, which was very interesting, to say the least. The artwork sure left us with more questions than answers, but the architecture of the building was stunning!
Then on to Gijon, a beautiful city with a beautiful beach on the Bay of Biscay where the group toured the SAMOA Industrial factory which is stunning and utilizes considerable automation in their manufacturing processes. Then on to Leon which at one time was the capital city of Spain and holds a marvel called the Cathedral de Leon, rich with stained glass towering to heights of 100 feet throughout this massive marvel of architecture.
Then on to Segovia, which was a must-see with stunning castles and aqueducts running throughout the city. The trip was so much fun and by the end of the week, all the ladies were sharing photos and discussing their next get-together. A lot of friendships were created that I think will last for many years. All that is left to say is “adios y hasta pronto” (goodbye and see you soon!)
