For many years, Balcrank has offered service training to all our distributors in North America at our facility in North Carolina. This is a 2-day course focused on installation, service, and maintenance of our equipment. Proper equipment installation and commissioning have everything to do with the overall reliability of any lube system installation. Balcrank’s ABI program encompasses the technical service school and online courses to meet the needs of all our customers nationwide. Participants in the ABI program will be able to closely connect to Balcrank Corporation’s factory and its tech-service department.

The Authorized Balcrank Installer (ABI) training program is focused on training installers and service technicians of all distributors in the areas of:

Proper pump and system commissioning
Factory recommended practices for component installations
Repair and maintenance
Warranty procedures

Details:

Length of authorization term: 2-years
- Balcrank will continually review the status of ABI technicians on an ongoing basis to ensure their status remains active.
- Reauthorization may be completed by attending the technical service school or the ABI online classes
- If the ABI status lapses there will be a 3-month grace period to complete required training.

Who is authorized: ABI authorization applies to individual technicians, not to the company as a whole.
- A minimum of one technician, per company location, must complete the ABI course.
- Additional technicians may complete the ABI course.
- If an ABI technician separates from the company, and the company has no other ABI-trained technicians then the company is no longer ABI complaint. Speak to your regional manager if this issue arises.

Balcrank warrants all equipment referenced in this document that is manufactured by Balcrank and bearing its name to be free from defects in materials and workmanship on the date of sale to the distributor. Balcrank will for some time as described by the table below from the date of sale, repair or replace equipment covered by this warranty and determined by Balcrank to be defective. The below warranty only applies when the equipment is installed by an Authorized Balcrank Installer; operated and maintained following Balcrank’s written recommendations. At Balcrank’s discretion and with a distributor’s original purchase order and proof of installation date, an on-shelf allowance of no more than six months may be added.

This warranty does not cover, and Balcrank shall not be liable for general wear and tear, or any malfunction, damage, or wear caused by faulty installation, misapplication, abrasion, corrosion, inadequate or improper maintenance, negligence, accident, tampering, or substitution of non Balcrank parts. Nor shall Balcrank be liable for malfunction, damage, or wear caused by the incompatibility of Balcrank equipment with structures, accessories, equipment, or materials not supplied by Balcrank, or the improper design, manufacture, installation, operation, or maintenance of structures, accessories, equipment or materials not supplied by Balcrank.

This warranty is conditioned upon the prepaid return of the equipment claimed to be defective to an authorized Balcrank distributor for verification of the claimed defect. If the claimed defect is verified, Balcrank will repair or replace free of charge any defective parts. The equipment will be returned to the original purchaser transportation prepaid. If the inspection of the equipment does not disclose any defect in material or workmanship, repairs will be made at a reasonable charge, which charges may include the costs of parts, labor, and transportation.

THIS WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE, AND IS INSTEAD OF ANY OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO A WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

Balcrank’s sole obligation and buyer’s sole remedy for any breach of warranty shall be as set forth above. The buyer agrees that no other remedy including, but not limited to, incidental or consequential damages for lost profits, lost sales, injury to person or property, or any other incidental or consequential loss shall be available. Any action for breach of warranty must be brought within 1 year past the warranty period.

BALCRANK MAKES NO WARRANTY, AND DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, IN CONNECTION WITH ANY ACCESSORIES, EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS OR COMPONENTS SOLD BUT NOT MANUFACTURED BY BALCRANK.

Items sold, but not manufactured by Balcrank (such as electric motors, switches, etc.), are subject to the warranty, if any, of their manufacturer. Balcrank will provide purchaser with reasonable assistance in making any claim for breach of these warranties.

In no event will Balcrank be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages resulting from Balcrank supplying equipment hereunder, or the furnishing, performance, or use of any products or other goods sold hereto, whether due to a breach of contract, breach of warranty, the negligence of Balcrank, or otherwise.

FOR BALCRANK INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS

The parties acknowledge that they have required that the present document, as well as all documents, notices and legal proceedings entered into, given or instituted pursuant hereto or relating directly or indirectly hereto, be drawn up in English.

* Outfits/Packages – Warranted by the individual components (e.g. hoses within packages are covered by standard warranty while pumps are covered by extended warranty)

**EXCLUDES all DEF packages & components, these carry a 1-year standard warranty.

If service must be performed on-site, Authorized Balcrank Service Centers may claim required repair/replacement labor within the limits of the Balcrank Flat Rate Chart (see Distributor Handbook page 8) plus a one-time per incident travel allowance of $1.25 per mile, not to exceed $105.00 (US) for performing on-site warranty service.

Pre-approval from Balcrank Technical Service Department must be obtained BEFORE warranty work is performed in any of the following instances:

Repair time/labor will exceed the Balcrank Flat Rate Chart
Travel expenses will exceed the allotted $105.00 travel allowance

Questions?

Q: Why is Balcrank requiring ABI status for the 5-year warranty?

A: Within our distribution network, we have many levels of installation experience from beginners to professionals. Longevity of our equipment has a lot to do with proper installation. The ABI process is an easy way to improve the knowledge of all distributors which should in turn ensure our equipment is not only installed properly, but will last well past the warranty period.

Q: Is there any type of deadline for this program?

A: Yes and no. You can become an Authorized Balcrank Installer at any time. Once you register for the training however, you must complete the courses within 90 days. If not completed in 90 days, you will have to start from the beginning of the training again. The 90 day period begins when you first register for the ABI program.

Q: What if I have my tech/tech’s have already attended class?

A: If this has been in the past two years, they will be grandfathered in to the program. If it has been more than 2-years, they will have to complete either the 2-day class at the factory or the on-line courses with passing grades on the tests.

Q: What if I don’t have field technicians?

A: Only companies with field technicians can become “Authorized Balcrank Installers”.

Q: If I’m not an “Authorized Balcrank Installer,” what is the warranty on Balcrank products?

A: 1 year

Q:What happens if my ABI tech leaves my company?

A: It is best to have more than one ABI tech. If you have one ABI tech and he leaves, you will need to have another tech “Authorized” to continue with the ABI benefits.

Q: Do I have to sign any type of agreement with Balcrank?

A: Yes, the agreement simply states that you have been trained by Balcrank on the proper installation of our equipment and that the installation portion (piping and labor) is your responsibility which it always has been; nothing here has changed.
